Rehor is right.

The south (usually Alpha) controls the outcome in most GB1 games.  The autosplit is where the problem starts.  Bravo will ALWAYS be assigned positions in the starting grid at the North end of the map, BBs first...then down to FF.  Alpha never shifts.  After the 10 second countdown, most BBs (Bravo) are still aligned for north and those few who move to the south are usually overwhelmed by the 4-5 BBs running Alpha south.   Alpha South ships are already in position and moving.  Most Bravo BBs are still languishing or slowly moving, trying to figure out which way to go.  Those few instances where Bravo sends a competent group of BBs to defend south, along with a good CV and maybe an SS and AA/ASW, will change the outcome.  The game usually rotates clockwise, with Alpha south advancing and Bravo North advancing.  So, if Bravo south steps up, they can stop Alpha south and control the game..again, Rehor is right.

Let's see if SDE can provide statistics on game outcome. Bravo or Alpha?  I highly doubt it splits 50/50.   My money is on Alpha winning 55% or more of the time.

This problem can be partially fixed with a little coding rewrite.

1) Random split the Bravo side, not alignment north.

2) Implement the same "No See" function in GB2 after the split.

Dear People Who Don't Know How to Play,

Learn how to play.

That is all.

Rehor

Best case scenario in this situation was that the three guys I highlighted are the CV's, because they are the furthest south.

But it doesn't matter one bit because I'll wager all the credits on all my accounts that none of them are actively supporting the south.  The south is blind.  The south cannot advance.  The south will be taken.  The enemy south will undercut our middle and north.

Even working my ass off to stay alive and scout for myself, I cannot punch recon through a handful of enemy fighters between me and the enemy line I can't see.  I cannot front-line and AA enemy planes near me and survive an advancing enemy line without help.  I'm not supposed to be able to.

Yes, it comes down to knowing how to play, which is why I mentioned that specifically.  This is why this thread is where it is on this website.  And since it's here, I can tell you that it holds hands with the rest of the theory I preach:

Play in HAs or fleet wars if you want your team to actually be a team. I would have thought that by now you would have figured out that posting here won't change anything because people will still continue to go north because they think north is the best place to go. This is because most of the less skilled players are thought to go north so people assume north=easy attack=easy xp.

Even though I agree with Rehor on most of his argument.

However.....

I have successfully stopped Alpha South rushes with just my sub, all the while my Bravo South is weak, disorganized and over run with fighters.  When my sub gets in range, my Bravo South can now see the enemy (without the need for scouts).   I can also stop a BB6 from advancing with nothing more than a few torps sprayed in his direction.

So the bottom line is that Rehor is correct (sometimes).... As long as a sub isn't in the mix!

flaggelant

but the north is so lovely! it's where scouts fly at alt 100 and the bb's move in straight lines xD
i usually play north until i've got the hang of the ship im in, then start playing south (unles there's an empty flank)

if Bravo's deployed all north and not enough have come down to south, the A BB's south will rush. So if you'd be in a SS you'd surely want to be in the south, where the BB's come to you and you can reach their line with a minimum of air spent.

Crashes can win battles. A flank attack on a blind enemy will win wether its performed south or north.
