The main barrier to a good crew in beta was a lack of information (no-one had any guides or anything on crew, it was just a bit of a wing it job... Airwind contributed to this massively lol), and also a lack of points ot actually roll...
In Beta you didn't have the points to upgrade your sailors on time a lot of the time so they either got taken off the ship to weren't leveled 100% properly. You also NEVER had the Credits for the next ship...

Ah yes i heard of airwind from kiosk, also heard back then the guidelines were relative to a ships true range of the guns and the fact he was the first AW KGV player with blockshotting quads, he would just kill players from start of alpha to the other start points because he memorized the location.
I heard some pretty crazy stories of back in the beta days of how little exp and cred/points were earned so i can imagine it being something very difficult and having to spend a extreme amount of time in a ship. Also a quick question how rare was 12/12 gunners? i know they still are but i assume those were a set of gunners that would go for insane amounts of credits. At least by the standards of beta where a couple mil to maybe 0 mil was a extremely impressive amount of credits.

Just 3 days left then ill be quite pleased to play my h44 although i may play my russian stuff since i really want to finish leveling it perhaps get it to bb5 then terrorize the server again still mostly up in the air but i do have another set of gunners to level for Germany so i will be in the 44 or 39 from time to time.
