  • Brooklyn vs CLs

I've read a lot of topics about the Brooklyn and I understood that it can be used
successfully as a DD killer. But most of the time the Blitzkrieg game contains only 4 or
max 6 DDs (and a lot of CL/CAs). If I use my Brooklyn as a DD killer, I always run into a
few CL/CAs which beat me hard. As a result I loose my biggest advantage: speed.

I was wondering whether it is possible to equip the Brooklyn in such way that it can be
used effectively against a CL/CA.

Any suggestions?

"But but, we should not be satisfied with 25k, while we can do 35k. "

my numbers might be abit off since I had such poor gunners when I played brook for the
second time my spread was terrible. Also you must remember the difference between blitz
then and now. No BB, No CV, No Hobbits, and iirc 12 player (maybe 14?) games.

Belt armor thickness ~(nearly equal)~ shell cal. that you can bounce
Deck armor thickness x0.5~0.6 = shell cal. that you can bounce

Interesting information, ... At which size of belt armor does low angle direct shots start
to get bounced? Is there some formula or rule which relates caliber size and armor
thickness with the shell bounce effect?

it depends on your style, if you've played km before, then go for the dual 8's, if you like
uk, go for the trip 6's belt whore

I used to use the 8" when we ran smaller games. 20-25k attack is very easy to achieve
before running out of ammo even with a terrible spread.

About bulge/belt, 8"dual D :

Bulge
+ : Absorb torp damage to some extent.
- : Speed down (tiny or 0). Can`t use again in same game (=just for insurance)

Belt (6"~8")
+ : Absorb low-angle ~8" HE shells. Absorb torp damage much more than 0.2" belt
(tiny though, about 5-10%)
- : Speed down a lot (minus effect on avoiding torp/DB or enemy shells). Don`t
absorb AP/8"~ shells.

If you want to be a DD/CL killer, belt is good, but it will be a minus when fighting
against CA/BB/TW/CV, or wise player who use AP.
One solution is, put on/off belt, by CA/BB/TW/CV number of the day.

And too many bulge will just cause speed decrease, that leads to get more torps.

8"dual D
+ : Just a bit more fire power
- : Low ammo capacity (only 50 shot). Bad accuracy.

Well, I never use 8" because of low ammo capacity.
