So my BO is a level 50 and I have the Baltimore and I was wondering if the Alaska is
good and what guns I should use on it.

Yeah. I shit you not when I say MkIIs hit like Lion shells, if not harder. They really are
crazy. I knew it right after the BB12P patch, and I have it confirmed every time I'm hit
(in anything) by a MkII shell. It's not crits. It's consistent damage.

I've been meaning to try and bring it up with someone in current ONF. I just haven't
done it yet. It's one of those little "tweaks" that needed to get done and never did.
Except it's one of the more important things, to be honest. A quad-gold Revenge in a
BB1 game WILL dominate, simply due to it's sheer, massive firepower. Along with the
fairly nice reload (By UK standards) and great spread the MkIIs get.

I have a Revenge-line crew up to pre-releveled Vanguard, and Revenge is my
favorite ship on that entire line. In fact, I played thru QE with the MkIIs because they
were so insane. And I leveled the QE in mostly BB12 games.

Revenge was supposed to be the shortest ranged, hardest hitting BB1 (With
Renown having the same range, but less firepower and more speed). Instead, it
turned into the "Same range as everyone else if not more while hitting like a BB5"
BB1. It wasn't supposed to hit *that* hard. It's prime example of things moving from
the test server where they were fine to the live game completely different then what
they were.

I can confirm Ramp's claim. Unless they nerfed the Revenge sometime in the period I left,
that ship with the 15"MkIIL hit really retardedly hard, much more so than the RP12 sets.

When capped BB1 rooms could still be created, it wasn't hard crippling most BB1s with
three or four shells due to everyone's lack of SD. Land a full salvo and anything BB4 or
under would be in the yellow at the very least and if lucky with the numbers, you've just
one shotted something in a BB1 without critical hits.

This was a thread posted two years ago when I grinded through Revenge.

Revenge's MkIIs are broken. I've had by New York almost 1-shotted by a good salvo
from a Renown...6 shells..

12" spread gets better around lvl 65. It did for me, gunner had 11 acc, boosted, about 80
vets and not fully experted. So you dont need 200 vets gunner to manage the Alaska.

As far as at level BB1 goes, yes its pretty much the worse. 4 support slot, 12" L give you
2 bind of ammo, I think, only really good thing is the AA battery and the speed.

Kongo has a better spread, unless your gunner are really uber. Also have a better reload.
(however i've never found a ship as BORING as the kongo. The thing as no personality at
all in my opinion)

Revenge is a monster. Better range, but also will easily score 15-20k hit on you. Which
unless again your crew is uber, will kill you since you normally lack SD at that level.

Sharnhorst has about the range of a BB2. It hits a bit less. but it will have no trouble
slowly gunning you down safely out of your range. As far as at level BB1 went, Sharn was
my favorite, for you never know the lack of range the other have presented.

Once you get the guam tough, with the one more support crew, slightly tougher ship, and
gunner that can handle the 12" better, you might be able to pose a bigger threat to people
as your 12" are hard hitting enough, your profile is small if you use it well, and the
ship is easy to dodge with.

In the end its always a question of ability and playing by the ship strenght. USN BB1 are
pretty balanced. Decent speed, somewhat bad range but good firepower. Once the spread gets
better, you will have lot more fun in the Guam.

btw for someone that was talking about his single rep and engy: bad news: you are missing
at leas 4 engy and 2 rep if you have AA, and 5 engy and 3 rep if you dont.

And NO TORPEDOES ON BBS. When a BB1 is shooting torps, its well in range of other BB1s. So
I keep my range. And blow the BB. And the torp blow before hitting me. your torp range failed.

if u are at level and without boost on ur gunner, dont try to use this ship

large in size but bad in spread

if u have boosted ur gunners, its about 6-7 lv higher than the gun required that u
can use it well. if not, its a must to have 10-12 lv higher for the gun

by the way, i dont suggest players to have alaska as their first bb, and even guam
too

the south line of usn bb is much better than the north line

Use alaska in blitz only, put on trip 8's and AW.

The Alaskas Job is to Escort the CV and Larger BBs. The main problem is using one takes a
BB slot in the GBs... The Alaska ia fine for its level...I personally think its a CA but
hey we each have our opinion... you should like you are doing fine. Just hang back and
let the Bigger BBs tangle with the Big BBs... One thing you can do is pack some buldge
and stop the rushing DDs and SSs....With the Alaska's OH Ratio you are almost to the SPeed
Cap at level. a Couple of lvl 60 Eng(BVE) will put you at the speed Cap...

I use AA over Torps, and keep the DBs and TBDs off the big boys...i have also in the past
when the bigger BBs start fighting i will rush the Enemy to get them to Run or shoot at
me...It happens alot a BB will star shooting a closer BB and disengage the BB4-5 it was
fighting...

Just remember the Alaska is a BIG CA...and you will be fine....

Perhaps if you are making a BB and a SS crew torpers could be possible and maybe tolerable
but if its a BB crew you are making torpers are very looked down upon.

BBs having torps wastes T slots, makes you slower and is very ineffective. While it may
work in the Blitzkrieg mode, GBs are quite different and BBs with torpers will end up
being food.
