honestly the way i used my alaska was put torpers on it and trailed the larger bb's.
Use the torpers to kill any rushing ss, use sonar or have dd/cl around you. Alaska is
a good rush interceptor... But you will take alot of damage. I was able to kill a QE by
myself-- but with luck he ran into my torps. Alaska is very weak because everyone
and their mom use l2,monty and yammys. It worked very well for me seeing as most
subs dont expect for bb to use torps.

Alaska does not teach you how to play a SoDak.

An Alaska at level or even with a slightly above level crew will still be below average.
The spread of the guns will still be mediocre. When I had my Alaska my gunners were
+11/11 boosted with 130 vets and almost full experts with maybe 1-9 rookies.

As an Alaska in GBs, you should stay back and only go in when you have other BB3/4/5s in
front of you getting shot at.

IMHO, Baltimore seems to be a bit better since its smaller and with decent gunners you
will start to block.

The Alaska/Guam will teach you how to play the South Dakota. If you skip the
experience and shortcut wilh a Seva, you will suck when you try to later use the
SoDaker...which is one of the most fun ships in the game

I liked my Alaska. It wasn't the best ship, but I could still get some attack with it.

Feh. You should be starting to figure out how to be a BB in the Atlanta (or even
DDX/Omaha, depending on setup and playstyle), with a more in depth tutorial with the
Cleveland and Baltimore. (Assuming you're in blitz. In GB, the value of anything without
BB2 range is measured in AA and ASW)

Yeah, and if you wait that long before figuring it out, you're going to be food for
everyone. Best to learn as early as possible, and that means taking your lumps in
GB games in the Alaska. But don't worry, at that level, shooting down planes gets
you fairly decent XP if nothing else.

Speedemon my gunners are both level 61. I'm also train a Engy right now and I
have a Repair guy.

And the SoDak plays completely different from the Iowa...

Except Sodak and Iowa can take hits.

The play style of the Alaska/Guam, SoDak, and Iowa are very similar.
