My country has one of the highest Military expenditure per capita in the world with
4.9% of our GDp going to the defence budget.
with nice planes & sexy stealth ships& all but Is it worth? We are so small some of u
may not even know that my country exists... One bomb will doom us all...

I doubt even with the most high tech weapons we wld even last 6 days b4 being
overwhelmed, run out of water,fuel ammunition, Bases, b4 a carrier from the States
arrives.

Im just saying.... Anyway enjoy...

Normally you would be correct in that the engagements between the F-22 and gen 4 fighters
wouldn't be usable in an assessment between the F-22 and the SU-37.

However in this case it is a accurate comparison because the major factors in said
engagement ecm-eccm, pilot experience and stealth are superior in the 4th gen american
fighters that the F-22 was fighting.

And the US pilots knew that they where fighting stealth aircraft.

X-44 manta :D

The SU-37 only has two built as of public record private probably more then two.

The current fighter the russians use is the SU-35, they have an array of jets they have
built over the years as the SU-47 which is actually better then the SU-35 by some experts
opinions only one was ever built and submitted to public record.

Ya night i know they won't engage directly sad thing is if the 37 get's on a 22's tail and
unleashes it's guns well then you get the picture.

SU-37's specs for weapons

* 1 ?30 mm GSh-30 cannon with 150 rounds
* 12 ?wing and fuselage stations for up to 8,200 kg (18,080 lb) of ordnance

F-22's specs for weapons

# Guns: 1?20 mm (0.787 in) M61A2 Vulcan 6-barreled gatling cannon in starboard wing root,
480 rounds
# Air to air loadout:

* 6?AIM-120 AMRAAM
* 2?AIM-9 Sidewinder

# Air to ground loadout:

* 2?AIM-120 AMRAAM and
* 2?AIM-9 Sidewinder for self-protection, and one of the following:
o 2?1,000 lb (450 kg) JDAM or
o 8?250 lb (110 kg) GBU-39 Small Diameter Bombs

# Hardpoints: 4?under-wing pylon stations can be fitted to carry 600 US gallon drop tanks
or weapons, each with a capacity of 5,000 lb (2,268 kg)

SU-37's performance specs

* Maximum speed: Mach 2.30 (1,550 mph)
* Range: 3,700 km (2,230 mi)
* Service ceiling: 18,000 m (59,100 ft)
* Maximum g-loading: +9/-3 g

F-22's performance specs

# Maximum speed:

* At altitude: Mach 2.25 (1,500 mph, 2,410 km/h)
* Supercruise: Mach 1.82 (1,220 mph, 1,963 km/h)

# Range: >1,600 nmi (1,840 mi, 2,960 km) with 2 external fuel tanks
# Combat radius: 410 nmi (471 mi, 759 km)
# Ferry range: 2,000 mi (1,738 nmi, 3,219 km)
# Service ceiling: 65,000 ft (19,812 m)
# Wing loading: 77 lb/ft?(375 kg/m?
# Thrust/weight: 1.08 (1.26 with loaded weight & 50% fuel)
# Maximum design g-load: -3.0/+9.0

Notice the russian planes has less public info and the US has more. So there are probably
more things for the russian one, but getting back on topic with the discussion.

The thing that someone brought up is with pilots and the F-22 VS the F-15.

The F-15 is a 4th generation aircraft (correct me if i'm wrong), so the performance just
isn't there and it wouldn't be a accurate test in my eyes. Now if the russians and US did
a co-op test to see who's jet was better and with the best pilots that would be a more
even playing ground until then i still believe in russian air power cause they've been
building some of the best jets the world has ever seen.

The two US craft i do like are the F-16 Fighting Falcon also know as the Viper due to it's
similarity to the fighters from BSG. The other is the F-4 Phantom II only downside of the
phantom was it not having a gun for a while....

One plane that could also be brought into this discussion is the Avro Arrow, it was ahead
of it's time when it was built and the design for it's delta wing is still used in
fighters today.

@thecoon

Your defense situation verses your main potential enemies isn't all that bad. All you guys
need to do is not repeat the mistakes the UK made in WW2. Then sit and wait for America
and company to arrive in a few days from Japan.

Actually I was referring to the X-44 Manta.

If I recall correctly, the YF-23 lost the competition despite the fact that it was stealthier than the F-22 but more due
that it was also less agile / maneuverable. The F-22 was seen as being the best combination of both attributes.

To agree with Nightcrept, I have heard that in exercises, 2 F-22 can shoot down 8 F-15's and the latter pilots never
saw the Raptors visually or on radar. In effect, they never knew what killed them

Hmm Nightcrept, my guess would be the Northrop YF-23?

The SU-37 and variants will indeed beat the F-22 in a dog fight. However in real life
combat the F-22 will have approx the same kill margin as it would against the other non
stealth aircraft. The reason being that it's attack scheme would be to utilize it's
technologically advanced systems and stealth to ensure the kill and it's own survival.

The F-22 will not engage in a dog fight with the SU-37 or even inferior fighters if at all
possible.

The thing that most americans should be upset about is why the superior version of the
F-22 was canceled. It would have been more agile and faster then either the F-22 or SU-37
cheaper then the F-22 both in initial cost and upkeep and much stealthier then the F-22.

But it was canceled. Props to whoever figures out what program i am referring to.

-"The assault carriers and fleet carriers will have to develop a system to
manage the heat from the engine. I can see specific areas of Marine Air bases also getting
such a treatment but not the whole base. I would need to see a reference to validate your
claim."-

Only the amphibious assault ships like the Wasp Class that currently use the US Marine
Corps Harrier II airframes will.

The fleet carriers like the Nimitz class will NOT use the STOVL version of the F-35. They
will use the "C" variant with larger wing surface area, beefier landing gear and larger
payload ability but will launch and recover via catapult and arresting gear.

The Royal Navy on the other hand, will use the STOVL "B" variant.

The USAF and most other airforces in the JSF program will use the "A" variant that is
conventional landing/take off.

Actually fokker i did mean the 22 on that one, as someone pointed out the 22 will dominate
all.

My response to that is Russian SU-37 Terminator old plane but has been advanced fully and
refit with the newer versions.
