  • Reduce HH surface attack damage

If I can put 2 Hedgehogs (HH) on the front of my Z99, along with 1 DC launcher in
the T slot, and still go 83 knots... I should be capable of doing minimal damage...
Instead I can fictory at the enemy, dodge most oncoming BB shells, lock onto an
enemy DD/TWCL and send it to hell in just 2 shots at 2 degrees with my HH...

Consider that each premium HH fires 7 shells, each of a 7.2" calibre shell, which does
a proportionate amount of HE damage to ships... That's 14 shells I can unload in
someone's face instantly... All the while I can keep doing ASW work as I always
have - with DCs and using my speed to stay out of the way of reprisal torpedo
attacks...

It is simply not feasible to have such a high power weapon (against actual ships not
submarines) on a DD with such a low weight that it does not impact on the DD's
speed at all... Using this setup is almost akin to exploiting the game: using an ASW
weapon as a better alternative to gun damage...

My suggestion is to reduce surface (point blank shots) by 50% whilst keeping the
current submerged damage... This can prevent any further abusing of the HH
weapon...

I would have to agree, take away the damage they do to ships and leave the damage they
do to subs. It is kinda nasty to see a (ASW) ship be able to kill (Attack) ships, thats just
not right.

Anyway, Slayer don't get upset at compassghost, the poor guy does not have a very open
mind and he does not understand anything anyone else says unless it happends to fall
within his tunnelvision line of sight.

eh, i dont agree... wouldn't use HH as primary weapon because very easily with my crew i do 2k dmg in 3-4 sec
and if youre doing 87 knt youre the same as me so you have the same ability with primary weapon especially
the z99 that things a beast

Koreta, that would be a nice addition. Giving the HH a timer would essentially make
it like a DC.

I agree though, that it is not supposed to damage surface ships that much.

Furthermore, HH's were developed primarily to target enemy subs and that much
damage on a ship, DD or larger, is rather absurd.

It is strange to see a submarine killer blow a DD to peices if it works like a DC, so
this recives my recc for the day.

JOKE: maybe you can have a C4 like effect if it hits something on the surface like a
DD. You score a hit, does nothing for the first few seconds, then BOOOOOOM!

Ok, Compass you are not comprehending what I am stating... I COULD have a 3"
gun and spend 2 minutes shooting a DD to sink it, or I could just sink it in 2 seconds
with 1 shot from 2 HH launchers and use my DCs to sink the SSs...

Answer this: Is the Hedgehog a cannon for primarily sinking ships, or submarines?

While it is true that the damage per minute does play a part, that can be
counterbalanced by the fact that the FF/DD I am shooting can return fire for the
duration, thus damaging me reasonably... With HHs 1 salvo is all it takes...

It's offset by its abnormally long reload. It has the damage output of a 3" gun firing
for 2 minutes compacted into 1 shot.

ok... wher eis this coming from? i hope i dont suck that much with HHs, because i know i
unloaded into a BB witht he hedgehogs, about 3 salvos from the altnata before he decided
he was annoyed enough with me

netted a whole 5k -_-

or is there that big of a gap between prem and normal damage?

It is an ASW weapon which can be abused for roles other than its intended purpose..

Also technically mines require an impact to detonate them, but when they are
dropped on a ship they are destroyed and do not detonate... My suggestion is to
either replicate that scenario on the HHs or if that is impossible, reduce the damage
inflicted...

I had this game earlier where I fictoried in my Z99 at the enemy lines at the start of
a battle... A Q-Class DD saw me coming and turned so he could torp and broadside
me; due to my speed, his torpedos dudded, and I just had to shoot once at 2
degrees, and obliterated the Q... Not even the 6.75"HHE Z99 could 1shot a Q-
class...

Another game I was recently in involved me chasing an Illustrious and sinking it in 3
shots, netting me 20863 attack...
