Hello, I'm the current fleet leader of BAMF (This changes weekly) and this will be a decently sized post. Whatever you think of BAMF I think most everyone can agree that many of us play for HA's and we'd love to see this game continue on. Below I have a few thoughts on the current state of HA's and would love to have some civil discussion on them.

 

1) Fix APA's

2) Fix Borderhumped skytrains

3) Remove the harbor limit.

 

 

 

So first thing I'd like to see is the return of APA's. For the newer players (do ya'll exist?!?) APA's were a method of taking a room while the enemy still had subs/other ships holding the room. You'd take the APA to the other end of the map, if it made it through safely it would win the room for you. In the end it added a bit more strat to the game, and when you have no mas apa the ss delaying the room works as it does now. This was inadvertently removed when retreating off the border was patched out, currently the APA will "beach" on the border.

 

Second thing is skytrains. My personal opinion is they should be completely removed from the game with the state of desyncs but I can understand why they are here, to help fleets who cant counter a supior BB force. That said, there is been an trend of fleets border humping skytrains on the north border, while this happened occasionly (and used to be bannable), these fleets have figured a way to get them completely off the map, so you can only hear sound. Below are the screenshots I tried to capture, but they are so far off the map they don't show much. Honestly I'd just like to see a fix for this.

Now for the third one, and what I'd really love to happen is the removal of the 2 harbor limit. So atm, CHNB and RA both own 2 harbors, BAMF would own 2 but we gave away USN so we can attack. Limiting a fleet to 2 harbors is meant from keeping one fleet from dominating the server, but why? Right now there is a good three way balance of power between RA, BAMF and Omegas. I'm unsure on CHNB's power as they can't attack do to investing in both their harbors. Removing the limit would allow fleets to actually fight over harbors. Now if say, BAMF was to take over all the harbors (which is very unlikely) the game could team up and attack all harbors the same day, forcing us to massively over extend and play Navyfield all day (spoiler, we wont do that). I think this would be an issue that would counter balance itself while at the same time allow many more competitive fights. 

 

 

I'm very interested in hearing thoughts on this.

Agreed on 3 points. The APA would allow smaller fleets to take ocean tiles easier and faster by spreading out even large fleets forcing them to defend with force all tiles. The APA is the perfect ship for newer players to make a defference in an HA.  If all fleets could make the HT quicker with APAs, they would have a better chance in the HT without resorting the use of skytrains.

Skytrains are more dangerous now with the lvl 125 airlift and the increased vets that they now carry. Skytrains dont need the extra help of border humping.

 

IDK about removing harbor lmits. Two of them is enough for our fleet, and anything more than that is a burden. Actually, one is enough. I could see fleets that carry large timezones, could break it into different HA sections within a fleet.  With the current state of mega-fleets and mercs in some  fleets, I would hate to see some future mega-merc-fleet hold them all or control that part of the game in the future. I don't think we are close to  that yet, but I could see that down the road.

 

Trade, absolutely. If even trade only within fleets, we missed a golden chance to get the new steam guys up to our level and keep more of them around.

One more thing about HA's. You want to make them really fun again? Remove some of the ship limits. Imagine rooms full of subs again, large kita rushes, 35 rushing BB3's and so on and so on....

yes remove limits, i can rememmber mogami's with bomber, torper 10-15 mogs the fun days:).

Allow with in fleet trading
Apa's in ocean tiles would spread the large fleets out a little more, and allow smaller fleets
to get to rhe Harbor quicker.
Win or loose HA's are fun

Agreed on APA.  Please fix it.  I still remember the fun of APA working with bb and ss to control either the north (or south) to capture a room instead of trying to hunt down ss.  I know that I should not complain because I have been using ss to delay in HD a lot.  :)

Agreed on fixing "border humping" skytrain.  They are almost invisible flying low along the north border.  Fighters cannot catch them when going in at high altitude (got shot down by the border).  However, I suggest to fix this instead of removing skytrain altogether.  Removing a class of sailors is not fair to the players who spent the time to level them.  Or, GM can start to ban players who do that. 

I am "on the fence" about the max of 2 harbors.  Because players cannot be on for the whole day, the 2 harbor limit can be good for the health of players.  I suggest to keep the limit but allow fleets to give up a harbor by the "click" of a button on a specific day every week (e.g., on Sunday).

To fail_member: the CHNB "bunny" fleet is strong too.  I believe RA, Omegas, Bunny, and BAMF are the four stronger fleets in the server at the moment.  The other fleets are catching up.

my personal opinion on this:

 

APA:

YES, this variety in strategy is definetely missing!

low level players, smaller fleets support etc...all said

 

skytrains:

they belong to the game. is the only way for smaller fleets to win something.

borderhumping is not the "fair way" ... hard to control, just be prepared!

if possible to fix it some way - best thing.

our fleet used skytrains on north border in past too, but tried to stay hard at the limit of legality (=planes in sight) - and we lost some harbors to it :-))

some misclicks may happen...some desyncs

enemy always complained...defenders always complain when sleeping deep ,-)

(no, dont want to start big discussion on this topic...)

 

harbor limit:

yes, increase the limit PLEASE!

maybe  4 , not 7?

each fleet should know how many harbors it will be able to defend .

it will stop the bullshit of giving away harbors to have the chance of attack again.

"leave button"? - no...wild click-race on monday morning ;-)

yes, at the moment CHNB, RA, Omega and  BAMF  are the bigger ones.

there is a balance in game.

i see no problem in "mercs", ALL fleets use them more or less...even the big ones?!

especially if fighting against an other biggie;-)

server population is too low .... or too many fleets :-))

the smaller fleets have no chance without that kind of "support"...adds something like diplomatic component to navyfield ;-)

so let a fleet take more than 2 harbors, if they can handle it...

 

shiplimits in HA tiles:

good idea! 

not totally open, but maybe something like: max 7 cv, 10 subs, 35bb (but MAX 35 !!!)

good bye "scheme f" and tactic "0815"!

 

little other idea:

rotate the harbor times some way or change something other.

we have fleets all over the world with their special time-zones.

some harbors have a "very special time" at the moment.

asian players will "never" fight in london, europeans never in new york, americans never in toulon etc

because in their timezone this harbors are deep in the night!

playing for years, some fleets never meet each other ... always the same fights x vs y and a vs b, not x vs a and y vs b...

would be more interesting - maybe...

 

AND DONT FORGET THE FLEETLEADER/RADIOMAN-BUG

2. Strange statement of the question. One fleet, several players from which are members of TNF team, regularly use the map border bug, in an impudent skytrains conduct throughout the year in HA Baltiysk, Tokyo, now Hamburg. And for this it is necessary to remove skytrains from the game? Do not punish impudent offenders and scammers, but remove one of the mechanisms of the game ?! )) Are you joking.
A desync occurs daily in GB without the participation of skytrains. The reasons for desync are in the program code, not in one of the units.

3. On the RU server in the end, 1 fleet owned 7 harbors. Here it is not real because of time zones. Maximum possible to participate in 3 HA / HD.

Back when HA's were on Wednesday and Saturday, that would be 8 per week. Tough
