The goal of this guide is to teach players how to effectively use AA guns for ships
of the United States Navy. Before continuing, please note that this is not a
comprehensive view: this is simply my own perspective and advice. Different people
will advocate different approaches towards using AA; anyone who feels that they
disagree with me are fully in their right to do so. However, based on my experience,
I believe that this is one of the most effective ways to utilize USN AA.

Note: for another approach towards AA, please read Cubone85's AA guide:

http://www.animemarketv2.net/AAA

While it's different from my approach, Cubone himself is also a highly skilled AA-er,
so heeding his advice in place of mine has its benefits.

This guide is divided into eight parts:

A. Introduction
B. Basic pointers for beginners
C. Basic Tactics
D. Important factors for AA
E. An evaluation of feasible AA guns
F. Which ships can best use AA
G. An escort's guide to protecting their charge
H. Advanced tips and tactics

I may add an FAQ at a later point if warranted, but for the time being, this guide will
consist of only the above eight parts.

"Note: some guns have the same golden angle as others of a different type, so if you're
feeling bold you can mix different guns, set them all at the same angle, and throw out
asymmetrical salvos. While this will throw off your timing somewhat if you're used to
delivering symmetrical, deliberately placed salvos, it can also confuse and play hell with
whoever's commanding the planes you're shooting at. Be warned, though, that an
asymmetrical setup means that if you decide to switch targets and use your mixed battery
to shoot at ships, things get complicated since the guns will have different ranges."

I don't know if this would work but, if i had a type of aa gun on one side and another
type of aa gun, and both had different golden angles, couldn't you press z to select the
front guns and set them to their golden angles, and press c to select the back guns and
set those, and press x after?

Very thorough guide in my opinion. And yes, notable differences in perspectives, usually
influenced by personal tastes.

Nevertheless, I don't mind having my guide tossed aside since it is outdated in my opinion.

I agree, but to over come the some SLower Reloading Gun, the Offest sends up a stream of
shells....even at the RLD cap....try it out...

Omaha Front and Aft Gun the 5s, The "Casment" guns use the 3s....and watch the shells fly...

Hmm, interesting. I personally don't advocate mixing guns because of symmetry issues (I
like to dish out clean salvos), but I'll add some notes about that. Thanks.

....Really Nice guide....

LordK, Just something i have found over the year AAing...

3/70n and 5/38mk29N have the same golden angle and REALLY close on Range. The Rld Offset
is nice and you get a steady stream of AA Fire....even with teh low level rld Gunners...

Just something to try

I must have overlooked Pcola.

An exploit by using AAW to kill fighters? Hard to say. Fighters are programmed to engage
anything, so they engage and come down fo tace the machineguns. We could argue about it,
but i see in no worse than exploiting range with certain positions and heading of shooting.

Well, to be blunt, Cubone's guide is rather outdated, and I don't really like how he
advocates the use of the AA gunner class. Plus, it's sorta short.

How about I put a link to his page at the top of my guide, since that's more up to date
than his sticky? Best of both worlds.
