  • MN Balance Project and procedures

Now that the SN has been introduced testing can move on to look at the MN balance and
whether anything needs adjusting in there. We have had this nation for a year and some
minor tweaks have been done; however, starting next Friday (25th March 2011) there is
an
opportunity to test some different settings and to propose a change for the main servers
if required. The test period will run for approximately a month to 6 weeks.

Sailor information and accounts will be reset each Thursday or Friday as appropriate.
Normal testing rules to apply.

So, please start a discussion here on what changes you would like to see tested for the
MN
and we can start building the first test patch for next week.

There has been some comments on the way SN was discussed and implemented.

Therefore, we will be doing things a bit differently with the MN balance.

First of all, this will be a project where we will tweak MN balance. We will not create a
total new balance.

Also there will be a lot more discussion before any changes are implemented.

I will be making seperate topics for the seperate ships to prevent to much confusion.

We received a number of proposals from different sources. I will post those ideas in those
topics also for discussion.

im not sure about the issues either i mostly AAd up to BB1 and the AA guns were
light but..

i mean if you cant fit an at lvl crew with at lvl/proper guns for the boat then its
broken, i didnt even realize that, glad you brought it up...

i mean DDX/Z99/L Class Brook,Cleve,Mog,Mpro,Balt,NO,PE,PPro,Dland,etc

can all fit lvl 120 gunners on and a high lvl bo of some sort, as well as some low lvl
sailors if im not mistaken.

L'Adroit is unusable at level right now, you cant fit full crew (lvl 17-20ish) and the at
level guns on it. Same goes for many other MN low level ships, all they can do is strip HH
or DCs on and leech away.

As for the displacement increase i would take the +30 levels give or take a few for
balance purposes, weight gain aint that much so you cant AW ships not supposed to be AWed,
also after that XP gain on the ship is nonexistant anyways.

Crew issue; Don't put any huge thought into them until a DD/CL/CA patch where we will
request the crew weight reduction similar to subs, but with a different value for each tier.

As long as a ship isn't overpowered or hugely underpowered dd/cl/ca wise (like the SN CA's
being overpowered, or the MN DD/CL/CA being underpowered), then we should be fine until
we take a proper look at the tier.

I've been working on the CA/CLs.

Displacements are a pain to change, as I'm not sure what level crew should fit on which
ship, and how does it balance with the rest of the nation's CA/CLs.

I haven't read through all the pages, so excuse me if already mentioned.

I am sure most players don't mind the fact, because they just somehow leech to capital
ship class or SS, but many MN DD/CL/CA have serious displacement problems. Even with at
level crew, they are not able to fit proper guns and full crew. You either have to take
off guns, or gimp the crew.

As a fan of small ships, I would like to see that these ships could at lest fit full
R-Slots with the intended gun and full ammo and a full crew +30 levels over ship level.

Also MN small ship gun ranges/dmg are off compared to the other nations. Their CA are more
like CL range/dmg wise (km dmg with bad range).

That is a shame.

Seeing as how most of the MN BB balance issues were brought up multiple times and it
was explained over and over again that all of the issues were supposed to be that way
as a balancing tool.

H44: 28500 -> 32500 (+4000 DP)
L2: 28000 -> 31000 (+3000 DP)
SY: 29500 -> 31500 (+2000 DP)
Monty: 28200 -> 32500 (+4300 DP)
SS: 28000 -> 32000 (+4000 DP)


Alsace: 28550 -> 3xxxx

I hope it gets at least +3000. So 31550 or more than that.

Already talked with darkgm over this issue. He said he's really sorry and want to
apologize how alsace(and other MN ships) didn't get sufficient balancing and testing
before the official release compared to SN.

they all have small differences. the problem with making them really different is
something like this:

IJN fighters are supposed to have the most fuel. so we buff thier fuel and IJN CV's
end up dragging their fighters the entire game without running out of fuel, and we
end up with more boarder humping

KM has the most firepower. so we buff their firepower, but now their like locals and
end up steamrolling all other ftrs in a head on fight

UK has the most plane health. so we buff that, but now AAing them becomes twice
as hard, and now in NF's messed up backwards dogfights UK can now pull out a win
even with less than adequate micro.

USN ftrs are pretty much insta win again fighters of other nations that are the same
lvl anyway.

im still not completly shure what MN's fighter trait should be as of right now.

I have no idea guys, you are the CV experts. i am just trying to throw stuff out there
so we don't end up with a clone nation.
