As all my "formula-posts" have been recently bumped, I was approached to put
them all into one post so it could be stikied... here it is.

These guides contain advanced information. If you are just starting to play the
game please go ahead and read Obst's guides on www.nf-guides.com. That
webpage gives you all the information you need to start with. If you have done that
and
are still curious about some details, go read ahead.

Since it has quite some information, I divided it into several parts, that are posted as
replies by myself.

0) Ability - how they are calculated / base stats
1) BO's Potential - guideline length / marking distance
2) Accuracy - where's the cap, how is it calculated

4) Torpedo - reload cap
5) AAW - chance of shooting down planes at horizontal and vertical distances with
auto fire

probably will just be a misunderstanding and I don't want an obsolete discussion in
this post as it just blows it up and might scare ppl away.
I have not included all "proof" in this post - if you are looking for some numbers how
I came up with the formulas, feel free to look for my old posts from between 2005
and now,
and you will find more information in there.

has any one commented to the support class that classing to ace doesnt helP? i just
classed my sailors forgeting about this post i think i read it ages ago i had 10/11 and
11/10 sailors i just classed them to ace, is classing to ace only
useful for sailors that have very poor base? I also saw u post the the air for pilots does
not help in any way? i dont think this is still true however because i do notice
difference with my sailors plz forgive me for not reading all the posts.

Im thinking of posting this info in a few places wondering if that ok out side of a simple
link.

Yes, you would lose both, bomber and fighter true ability classing them to ACE
or SQ LEADER ( => Keep ur ftrs as Fighter Pilots, dont clase them further)

waste however, since after that promotion, they also loose(!) in true fighter ability - in
addition to the even bigger loss in bomber ability. If you however have a high level scout
with +12 base in fighter, +10/11 in bomber, and full vets you will be surprised how well
he does as a FP right now.

Since after what promotion you refering to? If I were to convert to Ace or SQLdr I will
lose true fighter ability and bomber ability too?

In battle rooms players would radio me and accuse me of using tier 1 planes.
They could not believe their high level FP would be shot down by my low level FP.
I would radio back and tell them to zoom in at my fighter planes to see what tier I am
using (tier 3).

Tried my fighter pilots level 90 vs elite fighter pilots level 112 in clan area. My
fighters won the engagement.

I am not like Adalbert who can show test results and computations. I am lazy. ^_^ so when
a player would ask for proof from me and hard facts, I drop the subject and will not argue.

Made this post to support the findings of my good friend Adalbert. Pls don't ask me
anything, I am lazy............ ^_^ and will not reply.

yes, that is all basically correct.
However it won't be possible to put 300 vets on a FP because of the max crew size of
pilots (even unclassed) and the 40% vet cap. Also the bomber growth is not that high so
you won't get above 3000 displayed ability, even at lvl120 if I remember correctly,
whereas fighter ability of a FP does indeed goes higher.
But yes, if you were to get a pilot with 5k displayed bomber ability (with full vets at
lvl120), he'd be immune to all aaw and also to every other 'regular' Fighter pilot (T1-3
planes) in the game - thus making him invincible to everything but those new FPs (I just
added that, since I have no clue, how well those local FPs actually do... just one more of
thost terrible additions to the game, no one needed)
As for your second point.. well... yes, you are right. However since the pilots do not
loose in crew growth from rookie to basic fighter pilot, the difference is only in the
displayed ability and "not that big". And since we do not know wether the ability
calculation will ever be changed, my personal recommendation is, to class pilots up to the
basic level (Fighter pilot in this case). Classing them to Ace or SQLdr is a complete
waste however, since after that promotion, they also loose(!) in true fighter ability - in

Does that mean that a Ftr with 2k Fighter cant shot down a Fighter with 2k Bomber?
Meaning that if i get a uber Fighter with 300 vets, my bomber ability will make my
fighter invincible? (Supposing bomber ability isnt capped) or that my uber Ftr will
resist 100 shots from the other ftr b4 going down?

My point is if the damage done by ftr 1 to ftr 2 has something like
(Ftr 1(Fighter)-Ftr 2(Bomber))*anotherStuff
I ask this cause in case of AAW, whenever u reach some point of bomber ability
u get a inmunity to those attacks (or that is what it seems at least)

On a second point
As far as i realize, the best is to keep them as rookie pilot the most time u can b4 classing
them, since they win about 5 fighter and loose 7 bomber (and due to our examples,
1 bomber point is better than 1 fighter point), did i understood right?

I just made pilots with the stats I needed in steps of 500 from 0 to 5000 and lvl80 to 120

I just got a question, how did u discovered the pilot stats? i mean, what u did to know a 1000/3000 ftr wins over a
3000/1000 one, or its just math not tested yet?

anyways i trust ur guide a lot and im leveling 6 new pilots all 11 bomber and 11/12 fighter, non classing them at the
moment (since they gain more crew, and by the non linearity, 1 bomber point its better than a ftr point, so, as they gain 4
ftr and loose 7 bomb i understand that i should clase them the latest as i can), i ll post in the future my experience with
them.

thank you and i ll appreciate if u tell me how u discovered the pilots stats

jesus... i can hardly understand anything, i also dont get why people are fighting over
it. pretty much everything has a cap, just play the damn game
