I'm not comlaining, I'm just curious to the design philosophy for the Vanguard EBB

Historically, the Vanguard class uses 4x 15" dual guns, so it would not make sense for the Vanguard to be designed around using 4x 16" triples.

The damage the L1 does is already quite good for its tier (thus the range) and that damage is designed around the fact that no more than 9 of those shells can be fired by a ship in a single salvo. To add another 3 shells worth of damage to that salvo would add a rather large amount of damage, which would require a severe penalty. Imagine if the L1 had its salvo damage increased 33%, it would be necessary to slow it down a great deal or reduce its range even further.

At the end of the day though, if we wanted the Vanguard to do a specific amount of damage (which we did) we would allow it to do so with the guns that suit it best. If we wanted L1 range and L1 salvo damage we would still have given it the 15" duals it has, but with range and salvo damage and reload, etc, that matches the L1. I believe that the Vanguard, with its unique EBB guns, outrange and outdamages the L1, while also being quite fast and durable, it's pretty impressive overall.

Can I ask why you think the L1s triples (or any triples) on the Vanguard would have been an improvement?

Thanks for clarification.

I know historically vanguard uses the 15'' guns, but this game is not doing very well in remodeling history, is it? If it were the case, I should be able to put the historically accurate amount of armor, main guns, plus secondary armament on a battleship, but that is not the case.

Anyway, I guess I like triples because more shells in air = more chances to get some to hit on given salvo. For this reason  I like the US Montana and Maryland, and dislike UK Renown / Repulse. Even though the UK 15'' guns have very good damage, 6 shells in a salvo is too hard to ensure good hit, especially with spread of at level gunners.

Well, I am leveling 2 UK BOs, so I will get to play both regular L1 and Vanguard. Not sure if I'll try to get corresponding EBBs, when I get chance during events.

It looks like US and MN got shafted in these EBBs offensively. All the other nations get the full firepower of their BB5, while US and MN are missing a gun each off of their BB5. I know some have been speed nerfed so they're not better then the BB5 (KM, UK if I remember correctly, not sure on that one) but what do US and MN get in return for the diminished firepower?

You are correct about the damage differences.

Jean Bart has a speed advantage with a rushing profile.  Temeraire and J-39 get full firepower with the most range but lose speed for it.  Shinano technically loses an extra knot (stepping down two base instead of one) due to the variable gun options, but mostly because of the good speed of the Super Yamato in the first place.  This does leave the Missouri as average, plain, boring . . . just like US is often described.  One of the most noteworty upsides is the extremely small hitbox.

Anyone know if there are any plans to add any of the new EBBs to the premium invitation rewards? I'm holding on to mine right now since the only ones on there are low level EBBs

That's not a decision that the test team would be making.

For an official answer, you'd have to send a support ticket.

I have Kaiser and its best BB6 in my opinion
And have masive range adventage over other ships , if he is faster will be OP like lion2 in bb5 tier

J39 have range lol , I didnt play new ships never but on this forum i can see RN vangard can go 42knt and useing lion2 guns which have almost same range as h44 guns (h44 have max 2mm more range)

So please shut up

I can see in this test team just Km haters (if RN realy go 42knt with lion2 guns)

Please look at spece for L2 guns and space of R slots on Vany EBB and fpud some interesting things that Vanny can use only Nell 16 triples.

First look on what you critise.

There are other nations that rely on speed, KM isn't one, sorry.

If you wish to discuss KM traits and how it applies here, we can continue in the KM forum.

1st my post just forcus on j39. I found that new uss ebb4.5 is run 23/39 that's ok.
j39 with AA runs 22/37 like a kaiser with less fire power and 2support slots.

Compare to bb6 is meaningless.
Do you know the range of h44 is just like L2(1mm advantage ok u may call it advantage but wt is Lion2 high fire power/AW with good support) slingshooting is a dangerours moment with a large bb especially vs high dps bb5 with near zero range advantage.
I dun need the j39  to 25/42 24/40.
plz give me j39 23/39 with normal setting

I will be very happy that  if will ever L2 range only ONE mm less then H44. BUt ithe difference is abaut one half of dot on marking lines, (Abaut 5-7mm depends on size of monitor).

Does it maintain the normal Iowas speed?
