I'm sorry but the old Vanguard needs to be returned along with the new post patch
range then it would be classed as a BB4 not a 3.5.

Needing 3/4+ engins to reach its original speed cap is stupid and the crap turning
force now in place.

The ship was originally classed as a BB3.5 and the only adjustment needed was the
range increase that it has now. Obst and team glazed over the Vanny with technical
info that this ship would come out the other side much much better and be equal to
BB4's when infact it wasn't.

They made the level higher, the ship slower at level, made the turning force much
slower.

They increased the range by a little amount which is not really worth the slow
reload, bad spread and low damage.

Having played on AZ for best part of about 3 years and about 6/7 months on NY I
haven't seen many new Vanny ships about compared to prepatch which is a shame I
usually tend to find myself the only vanny in games 70% of the time

I like the new vanguard, i think the extra range far outweighs one or 2 knots lost.

That it wouldn't be a BB4.

I just got my Vanguard 2 hours ago, =3 I was kind of surprised with it damage output with
its long range guns, seeing as it has a little less then iowa range (or so they say). Im
not really fast, just 25/37 right now the spread isnt to bad but it does go crazy at
times. Taking on BB5's is scary seeing as you have so little hitting power and range.

Having H39, Yammy, and Iowa it does seem to pale a bit compared to them.

Before I started my KM line recently, I was playing with the Vanguard and I really didn't
have that much of a problem with it. It's a weird BB4 lacking range, hitting power,
armoring capabilities and power turning. It also lacks a true play style because nothing
traditional seems to work with it. In my honest personal opinion, I really don't care as I
can range and kill Lion Is, my nemesis, all day long.

But really, it isn't as bad as all of you put it. Let's face it, not every BB4
owners/drivers are that bright. Catch them on a push, speed in under their angles and
pound away. Really I never saw a problem sinking BB4s except for the runner H39s. If you
want to stare hard at the stats, the vanny is a terrible ship. Play it like a BB123 and be
super cautious and you can easily dominate in a GB.

So the vanguard can only be successful, if the enemy is constantly (and it need to be
constantly cause the 15" now do damage like KM 11") making the same mistake (and getting
into range of a vanguard is a mistake for every H39, yammy, iowa and above). The options
what to do with that ship are extremly limited compared to all other BB4s.

The argument UK now has both sides of the coin is simply not correct, it would be if the
vanguard had at least yammy/iowa range, which it has not.

And yes, if the bismark is played the same way as the vanguard, you will notice that it
behaves nearly the same and with the same results in bb123 or gb, then you had with the
vanguard before.

As a few people know, I am not a fan of the post patch Vanguard. It is the weakest hitting
BB4, and doesn't have enough advantages to compensate.

It also has caused a few other problems with the game balance, and it may well get looked
at in the future. However, returning it to how it was before is not an option.

Yes, neither works as you have found out yourself.

The Vanguard needs to be played differently. You need to single out enemy ships and use
the advantage your 30 deg guns give you. You need to turn in, fire and turn out again. The
Vanguard is a ship tailored for attrition. Against BB4s (not against H39 of course) you
can deliver damage without getting hit yourself... It is a hard ship to play and to play
it really good, you need to use the front and rear turrets seperately which is even
harder. But if you manage to play it right, it is a beast. The only thing that the
Vanguard is inferior to the other BB4s is fighting BB5s, because it just does not have the
dmg to kill them fast.

its great to read posts that actually make some sense,

anyone what thinks the vanguard is a great ship is a retard or has fully boosted
crew,

people keep telling me i just dont know how to use it?

would that be rushing in because it has great speed and forward firepower?
or standing back and ranging everyone else?

because neither works - most games i get ranged by every bb4+ and there is
nothing i can do about it- if i try to close in they just run and range me
plus the 15" suck as the small splash makes it impossible to it a small ship/sub

my gunners are fully maxxed and the spread is still dodgy at best.

The difference being that Bismarck isn't *AS* strong as Vanguard used to be. So while it
may be the most powerful BB3, it's not a BB3.5. It has less range then Vanguard used
to have, it has less firepower then Vanguard used to have, it's spread isn't as good as
Vanguard's used to be (Because of Vanguard's FCS), it's not as tough as
Vanguard was, and it doesn't maneuver like Vanguard used to.

So if it wasn't Bismarck someone was saying "Is the new Van-god", it'd be the North
Carolina, or something else, even tho they in no way stack up to what the Vanguard
used to be.

Vanguard is fine as a BB4. It does well in GBs, and it excels in BB4 games. UK used to
be extremely weak in BB4 games because the L1's range. Now UK has both sides of the
coin. They have an excellent BB game boat and they have an excellent GB game boat.
