  • THE Sub suggestion thread

This is to be used only to suggest changes.

There have been many, many, omg MANY Sub suggestion threads and topics, so here is the idea.

You guys all pick some of the concepts, ideas buffs nerfs etc from all the other threads
and add them here.

While you are welcome to discuss why a change would or would not work, keep it to a
logical and clear discussion.

No - "you are only a BB whinner"
No - "You are bias sub driver" in fact any insults will have their post hidden

Make your point - Make it clearly, make it once - anything else will be thermonuked as
will all other sub threads from here on in really.

Tell SDE what you want to see from Subs and sub play with BB play etc for the future

I'll keep checking in and see what you guys have come up with, there is some brilliant
ideas I have read thus far and look forward to them all in one thread and see where it
progresses, hopefully to a positive conclusion where, at least most of the community will
be happy with the changes (if any)

*Ninja Edit
Please no long winded posts, keep it short

"Start a game in the top back circle. When the game starts set your ship to 10 knots
and go straight north until you hit the rocks and post your time here."

Because you're going to start the game submerged going 10 knots, right?

And yeah, you have no other option except to go 10 knots, right?

Right. Obviously.

You've got to be running a horribly low resolution screen to have an FF that is 2 inches
long. And 10 knots is not that slow considering you're nearly invisible and can dive for 8
minutes.

Jimmy, are you running 480x620 resolution or something?

@snailgod

Thats what you call a frame of reference that is EASY to identify. For those that did not
have a ruler or use the metric system.

In the waiting room a frigate length on my screen is 2 inches.

In the game at 10 kts it would take you 20 seconds to move the length of a frigate in the
waiting room.

@10 knts

THE GAME IS OVER IN 8 MINUTES and my pathetic sub just made it half way across the
map?

LOL

***EDIT 1400x900

FUN EXPERIMENT
Start a game in the top back circle. When the game starts set your ship to 10 knots and
go straight north until you hit the rocks and post your time here.

My time was SEVEN minutes to hit the rocks. 18 ships from both sides had been sunk
out of 36 and the game was OVER with 5 minutes left. WOW those SS will be
devastating with their ability to be too late to the fight.

10 knots while being nearly completely invisible to anything that's not right on top of
you for 8 minutes.

But that's not enouuuugghhh....

What are you smoking jimmy?

"At 10 knots my ship moved ONE INCH in TEN SECONDS. Zoomed out full. At 10 knots it
takes 20 seconds to pass FRIGATE which is 2 inches long on my screen in the waiting
room. " Fail. It doesn't matter how big an FF is in the waiting room.
You can't compare how long a ship is in the waiting room to how fast you go in the battle.
Stick with the zoomed out battle screen.
An FF isn't 2 inches long when fully zoomed out. It isn't 2 inches zoomed in regularly either.
If that speed is correct, then you can travel 4 feet of zoomed out screen space (8*60 =
480. 480/10 = 48. 48 inches.) if you maintain a speed of 10 knots. That is HUGE.

TEN KNOTS?

I was waiting for a game to start when I checked that comment so I started the game
and set my ship to 10 kts.

At 10 knots my ship moved ONE INCH in TEN SECONDS. Zoomed out full. At 10 knots it
takes 20 seconds to pass FRIGATE which is 2 inches long on my screen in the waiting
room. I can "strike out across the map" go to the frige, make a sandwich, eat it, grab a
soda, and come back and sink a BB. Fun, fun, fun.

Thanks that post made my day.

PS 8 of 11 posts megadone mentioned speed or speed cap.

cheers

What is this? The third megadone speed cap post?*

----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------

1 - if thet was ment for me... I did, get glasse's and start reading insted of just
posting..., as for battery Ram all so explained it a few pages back as well...
reading will be your best friend....

2 - in this topic? prolly, but ther are more...
however my coment is dead on topic and I added my SUGGESTION to the battery
system.

when you post something wich incrises AIR/Battery you can bet your ars I will be
ther posting about *speed cap* agein, thet goes without saying, since I consider it
RELEVANT to the suggested idea.... as Ramp's was...

it goes like this...

be fast like FF and only have 20s of Air
OR
be slow and have a decent amount of Air

having BOTH is out of option -.-

the current state with 40 knots is TO HIGH cap, it needs lowering, hence my post's
regarding speed cap...

I'm all so verry amused, out of all my suggestions you pointed out only speed cap...
guess you like it so much...(eaven thoe you diden't hit the cap yet...EPIC)

cheers

Or you strike out across the map at 10 knots, nearly invisible because of the
reduction in SONAR sight range at that speed, and find something to kill, because
you'll be submerged for 8 minutes as it is.

You want a fictory boat that can be invisible and race across the map and do what it
wants with minimal effort.

And you're the only one that wants that. It's that playstyle that caused 72% of the
forum-going playerbase to say submarines needed to be nerf'd in the first place.

I mean, god forbid you should have to manage anything.

But hey. Everything you complained about in that post is how a submarine should be
played to begin with. The BB may run away from you, but your torps are faster then
the BB. So make your shots count and you won't have a problem sinking ships that
are faster then you and can't see you anyway.

Unless you want to be invisible and don't want your target to be able to run away,
either. Yeah, that sounds really exciting.

Well then your timetable virtually insures that BB's hardly ever get attacked from an
offensive SS strike and once the strike was initiated by the SS the BB can and will easily
slip out of range with a nick of their bulge missing at current torpedo strength. All the
while relaying to ASW where the attack took place.

The SS basically wanders around the game hypersensitive to it's speed bored silly
waiting for some dumb BB to get within range and completely unable to persue the
target for longer than 1 minute before it has to surface. Keep in mind that is 1 minute
from zero. Subtract the airtime the SS used to get into position.

The only way that scenario would work would be that 1 or 2 SS torpedoes were capable
of sinking a BB. Otherwise, what would be the point of having to spend game after
game "watching" BB and CV fight it out and doing nothing more than bruising BB's as
they pass by.

Sorry, I had enough of that leveling up from a FF.
