This is to be used only to suggest changes.

There have been many, many, omg MANY Sub suggestion threads and topics, so here is the idea.

You guys all pick some of the concepts, ideas buffs nerfs etc from all the other threads
and add them here.

While you are welcome to discuss why a change would or would not work, keep it to a
logical and clear discussion.

No - "you are only a BB whinner"
No - "You are bias sub driver" in fact any insults will have their post hidden

Make your point - Make it clearly, make it once - anything else will be thermonuked as
will all other sub threads from here on in really.

Tell SDE what you want to see from Subs and sub play with BB play etc for the future

I'll keep checking in and see what you guys have come up with, there is some brilliant
ideas I have read thus far and look forward to them all in one thread and see where it
progresses, hopefully to a positive conclusion where, at least most of the community will
be happy with the changes (if any)

The total maximum would be the total maximum at 0 knots. The way I had it, 10
minutes for an SS3. I suggested this because it was a good round number and easy to
give the basic idea of the concept from. If you overheat for a bit, that is subtracted from
your total battery capacity. If you stop or slow down, the remainder of your battery is
used more slowly, allotting you more time submerged.

It becomes a strategic hunter instead of a fictory boat. And that's the whole purpose.

I didn't think I needed to explain that to everyone, because not "everyone" seemed to
have a problem grasping the concept.

How about explaining to everyone the total volume of air that your system allows like I
asked?

What is this? The third megadone speed cap post?

I don't think battery wouled be thet hard to implement, however speed cap for subs
needs to go DOWN, it doesn't matter if it's a T1 or T6(hope they never come out)
speed cap at 40knots is to much, lower cap is needed -.-.

No it isn't. You just have to watch your speed. When I'm playing a BB, I always watch
my speed, I don't just peg it to full throttle and overheat all the time..No competent BB
player does. You have to manage your speed. And it's really not that complicated.

As for the coding challenge, the code is already partially there. Speed is proportionate
to damage. The more damage you take beyond a certain point, the slower you go. So
extend that same code to battery. The faster you go, the faster your battery is used up.

It's not complicated at all..It's actually a beautifully simple.

The battary system isnt really that complecated, if you OH at your max speed for 30
seconds your battary power would be decarsed by half if you then stoped at 0 knots
your battary would last 5 mintues before you would have to surface. Which would
add a much needed dimension to SS play which right now is just rush at max speed
towards the enemy battle line before you run out of air.

Battery starts fully charged.
Full speed submerged = 1 minute until battery is depleted, full SONAR detection
3/4ths speed = 3 minutes until battery is depleted, 3/4ths SONAR detection
1/2 speed = 5 minutes until battery is depleted, 1/2 SONAR detection
1/4 speed/Reverse = 8 minutes until battery is depleted, 1/4 SONAR detection
0 speed = 10 minutes until battery is depleted, DD has to be pretty much on top of
the submarine.
Battery would recharge at 1/4 total capacity every 5 minutes while on the surface.

This system is extremely complex and a nightmare to have to use in a practical
battlefield environment. Nevermind the coding challenge. Ships, by default, are difficult
to start and difficult to stop effectively. Unless there was a hotkey to press for each
speed, the SS driver will be constantly distracted by speed conservation.

If you are saying that submerge time is 10+8+5+3+1= 27 TOTAL minutes of dive time
then maybe we have something here. Then the only way a SS has to surface is if they
deplete 1 of the groups of time allotted. Then they would surface to refill the depleted
section first and then stay up for more air to fill the others.

For example I have burned 2:59 of 3/4 time I will still have 60 seconds of full speed.

Let's clear that up.

Exactly, slyv. That's kind of what I'm going after. A more Silent Hunter-ish game in a 2-
dimensional environment. There's not a LOT you can do, but you can give some of the
basic "feel", at least.

And the way I saw it, the DCs would work just like the normal DCs in my suggestion,
with a 50%+ "dud rate", to simulate falling above, beside or too far below the sub.

Sure they do Dingy you just have to adapt some.

I like most of your suggestions Ramp.They would make for Silent Hunter-esq
style of sub play in NF which would be a good thing.

I'm not too sure about the scouts carring DCs though.I guess it wouldnt be THAT
bad as long as you don't give scouts the ability to see submerged subs.........

:P put back xp in ss:P serios is badly nerfed.ss are balance now but xp is 1 big joke
